Rasmus Dalls americana-baserede muldyr har smidt ørkenrocken i svinget og søger i stedet græsgange i en mere organisk, indadvendt affære. Og det klæder københavnske One-Eyed Mule på dette tredje (lidt årstidsforvirrede) album med den sigende titel Drifting To A Happy Place. Albummet giver ikke så mange rocknumre til liverepertoiret, men fungerer som helhed udmærket. I hvert fald hvis man ser bort fra den irriterende Happily Drunk og den umådeligt simple She’s A Woman Now, som gentager de inden for tekstuniverset lidt typiske mantraer. Produktionsmæssigt har Mikkel Bolding (Messy Shelters) ramt et varmt, rustikt vokal- og trommerum, som især klæder de stille sange som post-Rumour & Garfunkel- åbneren September Sigh, sitar-hymnen Wintersong og det Morricone-inspirerede mundharpe-/western-soundtrack Lullaby For Loui. Alt i alt beviser det nye materiale, at One-Eyed Mule ikke entydigt behøver at sigte efter det autentiske americana-cut, som Rasmus Dall i forvejen fint udlever med sin personlige frasering, men i stedet kan komme langt med at udvikle de kompositionelle idéer. Up-tempo-tracket Everything I Do Is Wrong og den namedroppende godnatssang Nico’s Arabesque giver endnu et lag på et varmt udspil.

Uncompromising debut album from Scandinavia’s finest americana-rock band, Tenderloud

In the music you will find young desperados, the wild at heart, quiet men balancing between beauty and heartbreak, sunshine and melancholia. The varied vocals are central to the dusty sound of Tenderloud, but there are a number of influences present. Traditional country instruments like banjo, dobro and violin are confronted with a European rock sensibility.

Shadow Red Hand is mixed and engineered by Simon Alpin of Willard Grant Conspiracy and Nick Hunt and mastered by Adam Nunn, Abbey Road Studios, London. The band itself is augmented by several guests on their album. Among these are WGC members Josh Hillman (violin) and Simon Alpin (harp).

Since forming, Tenderloud has established themselves as one of the most exciting live act on the Copenhagen rock scene and was touring Denmark as support for St. Thomas on his Hey Harmony-tour and Willard Grant Conspiracy on their latest European tour.
